And now, just in time for summer adventures, Replica Glashütte Original introduces a new version of its classic SeaQ in stainless steel.
For the first time, the stainless steel three-handed model with a smaller date indication at 3 o’clock shows off a slightly domed, deep blue galvanized dial enhanced with a sunray finish that provides a more retro feel. Until now, this model was only available with a black dial.
The new color option extends to the bezel’s scratch-resistant ceramic inlay outfitted with a luminous reference triangle and minute markers. With a case diameter just slightly under 40 mm and a modest height of 12.15 mm, the SeaQ in stainless steel offers finely balanced proportions – not too small for a sports watch and not too big to still be an elegant timepiece.
Powering the new SeaQ in stainless steel is manufacture Caliber 39-11. The automatic movement, finished to the high standards typical of Glashütte Original, offers hacking seconds allowing the owner to precisely set the time and a date window at 3 o’clock.
While not visible due to the full case back, the manufacture movement features a swan-neck fine adjustment system for precise rate regulation. The steel case back is engraved with a trident with a Glashütte Double G handle and 20 waves symbolizing the water resistance of 200 meters (20 atm).
With a keen eye for detail, a focus on functionality and the brand’s trademark penchant for fine mechanics, Glashütte Original’s new take on the diver’s watch proves once again that the manufacture’s competence in well-made vintage design ranks with the best of today’s high-end luxury timepieces.
For those that like their watches to sparkle, Glashütte Original also now offers the SeaQ in stainless steel with blue tones and a gem-set bezel.
The watch remains unisex in size and design, so adding a gem-set bezel wasn’t a stretch in terms of target audience – although diver’s watch purists might disagree with that statement.
This gem-set model is the same as the stainless steel version described above, but has its rotating bezel set with 47 brilliant-cut diamonds and one blue sapphire. The sapphire replaces the reference marker that diver’s watches have to mark the start time of the dive. Because of that jewel, though, this watch does not conform to the DIN and ISO dive watch standards, which both require luminous material for the reference marker.
hough these gems will not work quite so efficiently underwater in this function as Super-LumiNova in combination with ceramic or aluminum, they certainly attract the eye when the watch is worn on land.
